Nassim Taleb's probability theory library

29 Mar 2020 - Monte Fischer

I have gathered here some books that have been recommended by Nassim Taleb. I took the liberty of adding in titles of books and adding minor formatting changes, but have not added links to Amazon for aesthetic reasons.

Nassim Taleb and Harry Crane’s probability book lists on Twitter [1]:

Nassim Nicholas Taleb (@nntaleb) replying to Harry Crane (@HarryDCrane)
MY LIST, 1 (there appears to be no 2 - MF)

Fundamentals

Stochastic Processes

Information Theory

Extreme Value Theory

Limit Theorems

Stable Distributions

Taleb also remarked on Twitter that Stoyanov, Counterexamples in Probability, was a good read.

From Taleb’s Amazon book reviews:

A very good compilation of all of Taleb’s Amazon recommendations (as of 2012) is available courtesy of Farnam Street [2]. Here I have limited the selections to probability theory alone; for mathematical finance, statistics, philosophy, etc., consult Farnum Street or Taleb’s Amazon page [3] for the most recent reviews (Hastie, Elements of Statistical Learning and Goodfellow, Deep Learning are recent additions).
